Surprising landscape with a lot of history
Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park
While cycling over hills and through forests, you will notice: no area is as varied as the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.
About the nature area
The Utrechtse Heuvelrug runs as a high sandy ridge from the Grebbeberg in Rhenen to the Gooimeer in Huizen. The centuries-old history of castles and estates blends seamlessly with the beautiful variety of nature. From the floodplains near Rhenen to heathlands, drifting sands, and the second-largest forest area after the Veluwe. In between, surprisingly hidden among the many forests, there are literally hundreds of castles and remarkable country estates. Castle Amerongen, Huis Doorn, and Slot Zeist can even be visited.
